Playtime Project Ping Pong Tournament! 🏓🏆
Join Union Market District, DC Fray and Playtime Project for our third annual Market Madness Table Tennis Tournament on September 7th from 2 – 6 p.m. We’re welcoming players of all skill levels and enthusiasts of all ages to come test their reflexes with some ping pong to benefit Playtime Project!
Saturday, September 7th from 2:00 PM-6:00 PM @ Union Market, 1309 5th St. NE
Did you know that the sport initiated the US and China peacemaking deal during the Cold War? In 1971, when the Cold War between China and the US peaked,the sport was used to bridge the two countries’ frozen relationship. Two sportsmen from the two countries were so kind to each other, and instead of treating each other with the expected suspicion, the players exchanged gifts. That led to Chinese Mao inviting the US table tennis team to China, and he paid for all the expenses of the trip. A series of exhibition ping-pong matches were held under the slogan “Friendship First and Competition Second.” Hence, the United States and China were able to heal after so many years of unrelenting conflict.

FlowWell Yoga serves as the home of the Black Folxs Wellness Collective, offering inclusive and accessible yoga practices tailored to the diverse needs of our community. Through yoga, mindfulness, and holistic wellness programs, we promote physical, mental, and emotional wellness. Our Unity Flow offering creates space for all who want, whether you’re a seasoned yogi or brand new to the practice, to practice yoga, build community, and stretch into the summer. All are welcome to join us for these rejuvenating sessions.
